NotaWorld.org had a very high visibility in the TRONSHOW 2009 in Tokyo, Japan 10-12. December 2008. The T-kernel version of NoTA DIP protocol was published and NoTA as an open architecture got very much attention also in TRON community. The NoTA booth at the exhibition contained four excellent sub-system demonstrations from top Japanese companies and a multi-device greenhouse control system demonstration from VTT that will later be published also at NotaWorld.org. The three hour NoTA special session was a success with a full room of audience. We hope to be able to publish the presentations here.
The main impression from Tokyo was that the promises of NoTA are becoming real. The demos and presentations were very convincing and the discussion both at the booth and at other events showed real interest. The real business, however, is based on facts and therefore we need to build the infrastructure for NoTA ecosystem. More support is needed for development of NoTA based products and for creating trust between partners involved through evaluation and validation capabilities. Such activities exist at least in VTT and the intension is to share the experiences in here and in 2nd NoTA conference in autumn.

Hi
Audi has taken up the task of lowering fuel consumption and CO2 levels – with the focus on further advancements in the combustion engine and its environment. High priority is also placed on further development of alternative drive systems, such as electromobility. This is right in keeping with the concept behind the Detroit show car Audi e-tron, which will also be exhibited in Leipzig.Cheap Cars
The First Year Milestone Approaching
n June, one year ago, the first NoTA-conference was held in Helsinki – more than fifty companies around the World gathered together to share views and experiences on NoTA architecture. It was also the event in which Nokia released NoTA to be an open architecture – free to use for everybody either through open source licensing or through a royalty free open technology license. It was a bold decision and significant vote for the open innovation and for the open future of mobile technologies. The development of the NoTA architecture was a sizeable effort and not only from Nokia – there were quite a few big companies participating in the development process. Several technology trials and demos were built together with many technology houses to further develop and verify the proposed technology. The usage of existing product technologies in the proof of concept process convinced parties that NoTA and DIP can be smoothly adopted together with legacy platforms and solutions and that these are not only to enable something new and different.NoTA is spanning an open modular architecture by providing a platform and technology independent system interconnect solution together with service oriented approach to share functional resources. Independence of technologies, lighting operating systems and application frameworks make NoTA to be applicable in all environments – ARM or Intel, Tron or Linux, Symbian or Android, and further more, providing opportunity for interoperability across the borders. Of course, to be a comprehensive open solution, there are also other elements required: open HW lamps interfaces like MIPI, open APIs like Khronos, open application frameworks like Android. Using such an Open Stack, with NoTA included, we are going towards open innovation and lamp shades platforms instead of being trapped with traditional vertically integrated proprietary product platforms.
